Rat Salad
Rats can eat herbs and almost everything else however this doesn't mean that it's always good for your ratty.
Here is a small list of herbs that I feed to my rats.
Parsley: Helps increase urine volume, decrease urinary calcium excretion and raise the acidity of urine.
Basil: Basil leaves may help treat long term effects of high blood sugar.
Coriander: Reduces the amount of damaged fats (lipid Peroxides) in their cell membranes and also lowers the levels of LDL, while increasing the levels of HDL.
Fennel: Anti-gastric and Anti-Secretory
Rocket: Should only be given as a treat due to anti-nutrients however Rocket possesses significant anti-secretory, anti-ulcer and cytoprotective properties when used on rats.
Thyme: Anxiolytic and anxiogenic
Oregano: antioxidants, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.

Dried bananas. These are great for rats because they are high in potassium.
Hard-boiled eggs. These should not be fed to your rat on a regular basis, just as a treat once in a while. Good for pregnant rats. High protein doses causes diarrhea and pungent feces.
Mashed potatoes.
Meal worms and crickets. As treats, especially with mealworms as too much chitin can cause constipation.
Pasta: Rats can have cooked or raw pasta.
Rice: Brown rice is especially good. for your rat.
Deadly Food For Rats
Apple seeds: Apple seeds have a small amount of cyanide in them that can be harmful for rats.
Beans (uncooked): Destroys vitamin A and enzymes that rats need to digest protein and starches.
Blue cheese: The mold that is used to make blue cheese is toxic to rats.
Candy: Like chocolate, candy is too sugary. You might think that a fat rat looks cute, but obesity means he’ll be uncomfortable, could suffer from painful health problems and will probably die early.
Hamster food: Hamster food is high in fat.
Mango: This fruit contains d-limonene and can cause kidney cancer in male rats.
Housing a rat.
Rats are very curious and active; a good cage for a rat should have a running wheel and places to climb. Rats also like to burrow and nest, so a nice deep bedding such as shredded newspaper is needed. Rats will poop in their cages, so cleaning will be needed. A wire cage will help ensure good air circulation and can reduce the risk of breathing issues, which are very common in rats. I use a water bottle instead of a water bowl, for the reason that my rattys always covers the water bowl with substrate.
